Reflect the Divine's Power Through Creativity

What is creativity? Oxford Dictionary says it’s “the use of the imagination or original ideas, especially in the production of an artistic work.” However, in a spiritual context, creativity differs slightly: creativity is often viewed as a manifestation of the divine or a connection to something greater than oneself. Creativity is the result of some sort of inspiration… First, you feel inspired to do or make something, and then you create.

Where does inspiration come from? Where does the idea to do something creative or make something creative originate? I believe that inspiration originates from the Cosmos, from the Divine, from the Universe, from the Quantum Field, from God [insert your preferred word HERE]. 😜

The feeling of inspiration is a form of a connection to the Divine.

If we honor the inspirations we sense and feel, it’s an opportunity to strengthen that connection, which provides for even more inspiration and insights.

Honoring your creativity is also a journey into self-discovery. Listening to that inspiration you sense and then leaning into your creation is an opportunity to better understand yourself, to learn your needs and desires, and to fully comprehend your potential as a Divine Being. It’s also a way to connect to your inner emotions and feelings. In the process of creation, your internal thoughts and desires are revealed. Validating that you ARE indeed a Divine creature facilitates a state of mind rooted in purpose, awareness, and mindfulness.

The more you encourage yourself to tap into your Divine connection, the easier it is to stay present, grateful, and in a state of flow.

So, how do you express yourself creatively? Here are some ways to creatively express yourself and follow the Divine inspirations you may feel in your heart, mind, and soul:

    • Photography

    • Painting

    • Drawing (doodle!)

But, what if you struggle to feel the nudge of Divine inspiration? Well, you first need to get out of “survival mode” and exist in your parasympathetic nervous system. In Dr. Joe Dispenza’s book Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself he discusses this in-depth, mostly under the notion of “creation” meaning creating your best life, best self, and manifestation. However, simply feeling the urge to be creative requires you to let go of the following three concepts: body, time, and the environment. You cannot worry about the health of your physical body, the potential threats within your environment, or how much time there is if you’re trying to express yourself creatively. Have you ever had an experience where you “need” to be creative and feel this overwhelming block? Usually the block is constructed from an issue within one of these three areas: body, environment, and time. Stress related to these things will prevent inspiration.

I help clients with strategies and techniques to shift from survival emotions (like guilt, shame, fear, doubt, lust, etc.) to elevated emotions (like love, joy, freedom, gratitude, etc.) every day. This is a crucial first step in order to reach our full creative potential.

The more you experience elevated emotions, the more often you’ll have creative urges and Divine inspirations.

If you need help with this first step, please text or email me. If you find yourself living in a survival state more often than not, that could be a great indicator that now is the time in your personal self-growth and self-discovery journey to seek help from a third-party coach. I would be honored to help you step into an elevated emotional state, feel Divinely inspired, and to witness YOU express yourself creatively. I’m hosting a webinar on this topic on June 25 at 5 pm PT / 8 pm ET:

Since this is my blog and my website, I thought I’d share my favorite way to express myself creatively. Writing is a big one, like writing this blog, journaling, writing meditations I use with clients, etc. But, my all-time favorite form of creativity is dance, specifically to improvisational live music at a concert.

When musicians are playing instruments in a live setting, they are creating music, which means they feel some sort of inspiration to produce the notes and sounds the audience hears. Especially in an improvisational or “jamming” setting - each member of the band is receiving his or her own Divine inspiration, which results in notes, which create songs. There’s an energy transfer happening from the Cosmos to the musicians on stage, and then that energy comes surging from the stage and into the crowd.

The audience then receives that energy, which is a form of inspiration originating from the Divine, coming through the musicians. What do I do when I hear that music? I dance. I dance like nobody's around me. I let the Holy Spirit move through me. I dance wildly. It is my all-time favorite creative expression. I transmute the energy received from the band as a primal form of creativity - dance. It's unknown when the human species began dancing, but it's thought to be as old as the human species itself. Dancing is an ancient form of creativity that I love to honor.

My dancing is then turned into a new kind of energy that gets sent back up into the heavens and returned to the Cosmos, thereby completing the energetic creative loop. See the diagram below:

It is a complete joy to be a link within this loop of energetic transference. I feel so blessed whenever I'm able to attend a concert because I am able to express myself with my favorite creative outlet and witness the creation of such beautiful music. Live music is an experience that facilitates true presence-ness. It is unique, in that the musicians are creating something that's never been heard before, and the audience receives in that moment in time, which can never be replicated again.

Look at the joy on so many faces!
